The original concept consisted mostly of castle walls and darker colors, but I thought that might make the child feel confined. So I threw in some perspective and opened up the room with some skies and a brighter palette. The ceiling (not pictured) shows swirling clouds emanating from the center light, giving the effect of stepping into a completely different environment.

The entire room took a bit longer to finish than I estimated, but the final result was definitely worth the extra time and effort.
